Mountain Biking
Steamboat Springs offers more than 500 miles of single-track trail and is also home to Moots Mountain Bikes, established in Steamboat Springs in 1981. With so many fantastic options for mountain biking in the area, it can be hard to choose! Some of the more popular trails include; Emerald Mountain (13 system trails), Strawberry Hot Springs and Spring Creek Trail. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen!
Hot Springs
Old Town Hot Springs, conveniently located in downtown Steamboat Springs, Old Town Hot Springs not only offers mineral-rich hot spring pools to soak in but also 250-foot waterslides, fitness classes including yoga and barre, a brand-new rock-climbing wall. In addition to those amazing amenities, they also have a newly renovated fitness facility. For more information, click on the link. https://www.oldtownhotsprings.org
Strawberry Park Hot Springs is one of the most popular Steamboat activities for both locals and visitors. During the day, the hot springs are a great family activity, of the beaten path; the views of the surrounding forest are stunning. Once the sun goes down, Strawberry Hot Springs is clothing-optional and adult-only. There are a variety of different natural pools with varying temperatures. If you get too warm and you’re feeling brave, you can plunge into the icy river to cool off. Don’t want to drive back into to town after a relaxing soak? Stay the night in one of their unique cabins or pitch a tent and camp under the stars. For more information, click on the link. https://strawberryhotsprings.com
Hiking
Take a Hike on one of our many beautiful trails this summer. With so many trails to choose from, you’ll stay busy and active all summer long. Some of the most popular hikes include Uranium mine, located four miles from Steamboat and the hike itself is approx. 3.1 miles roundtrip. This hike is considered moderate to difficult. Thunderhead Trail is 2.5 miles from Steamboat, over 7 miles roundtrip and is considered difficult. Hot Springs Trail is 5.5 miles from Steamboat, close to 6 miles roundtrip but is considered an easy hike. A little further of a drive, The Devils Causeway is about 47 miles from Steamboat, 12 miles in distance and considered a moderate to difficult hike. Another stunning hike is Rabbit’s Ear Peak, 22 miles from Steamboat, 5.4 miles roundtrip and considered moderate to difficult. Remember to pack plenty of water and snacks, don’t forget the sunscreen!
Fish Creek Falls is located just a few miles from downtown Steamboat, the quarter mile walk to the viewing point of this impressive waterfall is mostly flat and a leisurely stroll. If you are looking for a little more of a challenging hike, take the 2.5-mile trail to the base of the falls. At about 1,600 feet in elevation, the falls are especially magnificent from this viewpoint, especially in late spring/early summer when the water is raging from snowmelt. Don’t forget your sunscreen and water, also an excellent spot for an afternoon picnic!
Tubing
Tube down the Yampa River or hop in a kayak or a raft! The Yampa River is one of the few free-flowing rivers in the western United States. There are many guided rafting tours available for all skill levels as the river can be rowdy and unpredictable.
